Next year the capital of Kazakhstan is to become the world capital of
physics. This was announced in the course of 44th International
physics olympiad held in Copenhagen on 7-15 of July of the current year. This
was reported to astana.kz by the press service of the republican research and
practical center “Daryn”.
“On July 12, in the town hall the national team of Kazakhstan received “IphO Book” where Astana is determined as the world capital of physics in 2014. The book was started in Estonia, continued in Denmark and passed to Kazakhstan which is the organizers of the 45th International olympiad in physics”, - it is reported in the message.
On July 14, at the official Closing Ceremony of the 44th olympiad, presentation of the organizing country of the 45th IphO was held by the head of the delegation, director of the republican research and practical center “Daryn” of the Ministry of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The 44th International physics olympiad involved 374 schoolchildren from 81 countries of the world. Kazakhstan national team performed consisting of 5 people and won 4 silver and 1 bronze medal. Owners of medals are 10 and 11 grade pupils of Kazakh-Turkish lyceums from Astana, Aktobe, Taraz and a pupil of the republican specialized physico-mathematical boarding school named after O.Zhautykov from Almaty.
“After awarding of the winners by Danish organizational committee of the 44th Olympiad, Kazakhstan national team received a flag of the International physics olympiad as a symbol of passing the baton of holding of physical olympiad in the Republic of Kazakhstan next year”, - reports the agency.
