Every second resident of Astana is engaged in SME
Capital has become a city of entrepreneurs. More than half of the city's economy is formed by SMEs. According to the official website of capital akimat, this was reported at the briefing by the head of the Department for investment and business development Alisher Abdykadyrov.
«We can say with confidence that today Astana has become a city of entrepreneurs. More than half of the economy is formed primarily by small and medium-sized businesses, whose contribution to the gross regional product of the capital is 54.4%. This is the most important in the country. Over the past eight years, the number of small and medium – sized businesses has increased five times,» Abdykadyrov said.
According to the speaker, every second citizen is busy in the field of SMEs. This suggests that today Astana is also the main employer of the city. 2/3 of the economically active population, i.e. 65%, are engaged in business. It should be noted that in 2017 Astana took the first place in the ranking on ease of doing business.
«For wider coverage of business support, we are working to create a Center of urban services with the provision of a full range of services for residents, entrepreneurs and investors on the principle of «one window» at no cost. We expect that this will further facilitate the business conditions in the city», – assured Abdykadyrov.
It should be noted that today more than 111 thousand business entities are registered in the city, most of which are representatives of small and medium-sized businesses.
