Folk artists were honored in Astana last weekend
According to the official website of capital akimat, national museum of Kazakhstan held a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the Republican contest of artisans of Kazakhstan «Sheber-2018”. The annual Sheber competition was held in Astana, the purpose of which is the development of the craft industry in Kazakhstan, the revival of long-forgotten kinds of folk art.
This year 76 applications were submitted for the contest, more than 100 works were submitted. 27 masters passed to the final. Most of the products are made by craftsmen from different regions of the country.
«Participation in the national competition encourages artists to develop creatively, bringing in their products, along with traditional motifs and established techniques, modern solutions and approaches. Thanks to the masters, we have embodied our most important goal – to develop ancient crafts in a modern form and revive folk art crafts in Kazakhstan», – said the Chzhangyruman of the Union of artisans of Kazakhstan Aizhan Bekkulova.
The competition works were evaluated by an expert Commission consisting of art critics, artists and business representatives. The jury was attended by an international jeweler from Germany Martin Dempf. Masters in 7 nominations were awarded with awards and prizes. And the main prize – silver medal «Sheber – 2018» – awarded with the honored worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the member of Union of artists, author of the school for the manufacture of musical instruments Jealousy Turgulova. This is his sixth award. Also, all the winners received a training ticket to Thailand to participate in the international festival world Ikat Textiles Symposium - 2018.
