According to the official website of capital akimat , the ambassador of India took the initiative to establish a monument or to give the name of Gandhi to one of the streets or schools of the capital.
Akim of Astana Bakhyt Sultanov and Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Kazakhstan Prabhat Kumar on Thursday discussed the possibility of perpetuating the memory of the outstanding Indian political and public figure Mahatma Gandhi in the capital of Kazakhstan.
«This year we are opening a series of events dedicated to the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, which will last until October 2, 2020. In Almaty there is a monument and a street named in his honor. We would be happy if the mayor's office of Astana supported our idea of perpetuating the memory of Gandhi, who left a deep mark in the world history, also in the capital of Kazakhstan», - P. Kumar said.
The ambassador proposed to erect a monument or to give the name of Gandhi to one of the streets or schools of Astana.
In case of installation of the monument, its production and delivery will be carried out at the expense of the Indian side, said p. Kumar.
The mayor of the capital expressed interest in the implementation of the proposals voiced by the Ambassador and assured him of readiness for further cooperation on these and other projects.
The parties also discussed the possibility of building an Indian trade and business center in Astana and the continuation of the organization of joint cultural events.
In addition, Mr. Sultanov noted the new prospects of doing business in connection with the opening of the international financial center and invited Indian entrepreneurs to invest in Astana, especially in the fields of innovation, information technology, education and health.
