Contracts with a number of suppliers of school meals will be terminated in Astana
Metropolitan Department of education together with the parent community are improving the system of providing school meals, a new version of the menu is being developed for students, the official website of the mayor's office of the capital reports.
Since the beginning of the last school year, on the initiative of the capital's education Department, access to school canteens was opened for parents for the first time, the Department reported.
"On behalf of the management of the Department, in September 2017, the capital's educational institutions established marriage commissions, which included representatives of schools, parents and medical workers. This initiative was caused by the need to strengthen control over the quality of food in each educational institution", - the report said.
At the end of the first half of the year, the Commission revealed a number of gross and minor violations, in connection with which the leadership of 14 institutions was punished (including 8 schools applied disciplinary measures from reprimand to dismissal); terminated the contracts with the suppliers of the two schools.
In the new 2018/19 academic year, the work on food quality control was continued as part of the interdepartmental expert group under the Department of education. The group includes representatives of the parent Council, the Department of state revenue in Astana, the Public Council and maslikhat of the city, Nur Otan party, "Korgau-Astana", - representatives of the Department of state Agency for civil service Affairs and anti-corruption were also invited.
"For the first two months of the school year, the contract with the supplier of the school-Lyceum № 85 was terminated. To date, the results of inspections of the interdepartmental expert group in connection with the violations decided to terminate the contract with the supplier of food in schools № 5, 14, 57, 69", – it is noted in the message.
The Metropolitan administration also began to discuss and develop a new version of the menu.
Meetings were organized with suppliers and representatives of the parent community to cooperate in improving the school feeding system.
In addition, the office launched a pilot project in November in schools on the transition of school canteens to cashless payments, the results of which are expected to be received by mid-December.
"As part of the new rules for the provision of food from the new year to each supplier of food will be set requirements for the transition to non – cash payment and the installation of the camera in the room where there is cooking", - stressed in the Department.
This work is carried out on a permanent basis and is under special control of the Department of education.
