In Astana, the state animal shelter is being built

According to the city veterinary service, currently there are two private shelters for homeless animals in Astana: "Asenka" and "Ark".
Meanwhile, the construction of the state animal shelter continues. The shelter is planned to be handed over on April 30 next year, Deputy Director of the KGP at Astana vetservice Medet Kylyshbayev said.
The shelter is designed for 700 places: 500-aviary type and 200-in the quarantine zone. How long the animals will be able to stay there is not yet determined.
Meanwhile, the "Astana vetservis" holds the shares free of chipping, sterilization, a rabies vaccination. In 2018, the plan has already been implemented, the shares are completed. For 2019, the company applied for 8 thousand chips for dogs and for free sterilization and castration of 5 thousand dogs and cats. Rabies vaccination will begin in February - there is a state order for vaccination of 11 thousand animals, including 3 thousand cats and 8 thousand dogs.
"We came to maslikhat with a proposal to amend the rules of animal welfare. We offer to oblige owners to sterilize their animals if they are not used for breeding. And also to make chipping of animals mandatory, it will increase the personal responsibility of people for their Pets", - Medet Kylyshbayev said.
