Nur-Sultan is welcoming the Global Innovation Summit-2019 (GIS)
Nur-Sultan is hosting the 10th anniversary meeting of Global Innovation Summit-2019 (GIS) themed «Transformation of competitiveness! Nations - energy - industries - cities - talents». The event is being held for the first time in Central Asia. The main theme of the summit is the competitiveness of Nations and ensuring long-term sustainable growth of States. More than 50 international speakers from 16 countries came to participate in the forum.
"This is our 10th anniversary meeting and it was impossible to think of a better place than the city of Nur -Sultan to hold it, because Kazakhstan is the heart of the transformation processes in all spheres of life at the present time," said the President of GFCC Deborah L. Vince Smith.
First Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Finance A. Smailov that our country is 28th in the World Bank's Doing Business ranking. Furthermore , our country has engaged 59th row in the Global Competitiveness Index calculated by the World Economic Forum.Speaking about the relevance of the chosen theme of the summit, the Executive Director of the Fund of the First President of Kazakhstan – Elbasy A. Issekeshev noted significant "shifts" in various spheres of life that have occurred over the past decade.
"The main aim and mission of the Foundation of the First President of Kazakhstan is to promote sustainable development of the country and a competitive nation. On behalf of the President, we are launching several projects. One of them is a scientific and practical study to improve the country's competitiveness level, the development of proposals for the state on the socio-economic model of sustainable inclusive growth," A. Issekeshev said.
- Issekeshev noted that the center of attraction of talents are always large cities such as Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent. Nur Sultan acts as an advanced center of attraction of talents.
«Due to a life-changing decision of the First President of Kazakhstan - Leader of the Nation Nursultan Nazarbayev the city has successfully passed the first transformation: from a small town to a modern and dynamic capital of Kazakhstan. The population increased 3.5 times and exceeded 1 million people.
President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev also attaches great importance to the further development of the city and constantly keeps the capital in the focus of his attention. Today Nur-Sultan is a place of concentration of modern innovations, educational, medical and sports cluster, and has such iconic objects as Nazarbayev University, EXPO, Astana Opera House, Astana international financial center», - said mayor of Nur-Sultan A. Kulginov.
In order to increase the competitiveness of Nur Sultan in the international arena, it is planned to use 5 basic tools.They are (5 basic tools): the platform of the AIFC, the creation of an ecosystem for innovation, enhanced digitalization, the advantages of regional integration associations (New silk road, EAEU, SCO), as well as the transport and logistics potential of the geographical location.
The summit participants spoke positively about the reforms carried out by the state, the Executive Director of the Global Federation of Competitiveness Councils R. Alvarez summed up that Kazakhstan is one of the most dynamically developing countries in Central Asia.
