Over 24 thousand seasonal flu shots done in Nur-Sultan
The immunization campaign in the capital will last until early November, the official website of the city hall reports.
Timur Muratov, Head of the Public Health Department of Nur-Sultan, visited an outpatient clinic first thing this morning. Chief of public health received a seasonal flu shot and reiterated its importance during the acute period of seasonal diseases.
"Vaccination offers the most obvious way to prevent influenza, given the acute and contagious nature of the disease. It is particularly important during the coronavirus infection period, where this virus may become a culprit of infections characteristic of the season: cold and flu. Vaccination is critical! I urge everyone to get the vaccine and be more responsible for their health!" - Timur Muratov addressed the city residents.
Let us remind that the metropolitan Department of Public Health procured 110 thousand doses of the vaccine. It is included in the state-guaranteed medical assistance package and is free of charge for certain populations. They are, namely: children under 18 years of age with chronic diseases, medical workers, pregnant women (trimesters 2 and 3), individuals in custodial institutions (children's homes, orphanages, boarding schools), disabled people (adults and children with chronic diseases); and the elderly over 60 years.
Since the beginning of vaccination in Nur-Sultan, 24.6 thousand people have received flu shots. Of them, 6,300 are minors including those in children's homes, orphanages, boarding schools, and boarding schools for disabled children, where 211 people were vaccinated. The number of immunized adults exceeded 14 thousand people.
The vaccination campaign in the capital will last until early November.
