Low-carbon development Strategy until 2030 is developing in the capital
According to the official website of capital akimat, document prepared for the purposes of implementation of the Concept on transition to «green economy».
The document also aims to fulfill the obligations of the Paris climate agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere.
Today, experts of the Asian development Bank, the European Bank for reconstruction and development, AIFC and UNDP in Kazakhstan help to create an environmental project.
«Asian development Bank will Finance the research that we will carry out within the framework of this strategy. Thanks to these studies, we will be able to understand where we have environmental problems in the capital, how they can be eliminated. And the European Bank will help to choose the best technologies to reduce the amount of these emissions»,- explains the chief specialist of the Department of public services in the field of environmental management of the capital's environmental protection and management Zhuldyz Sosanova.
According to her, at the moment, a Road map consisting of five sections and 21 events has already been approved in order to develop the document.
«Greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane and ozone. All of these gases have a greenhouse effect, that is, they contribute to rising temperatures, and this in turn leads to climate change. And here the main purpose of the document is to reduce emissions of these gases into the atmosphere», - explained the chief specialist.
To date, to develop a strategy for low-carbon development of Astana until 2030, a group of 13 experts was formed, which included representatives of the capital's Department of environmental protection and management, the Asian development bank, European bank, as well as representatives of UNDP and AIFC in Kazakhstan.
The expert group has already assessed the current environmental situation of the capital, analyzed the strategic documents on the development of Astana and collected basic technical information on energy and resource consumption of the fuel, energy and transport sector of Astana.
