Declaration on primary health care adopted in the capital
According to the official website of capital akimat, the document was adopted today at the global conference on primary health care «From Alma-Ata to universal health coverage and sustainable development goals» and will replace the adopted 40 years ago the Almaty declaration of primary health care.
The Astana Declaration on PHC identifies four key areas for further work:
bold policy decisions to improve health in all areas;
and sustainable primary health care;
empowering individuals and the public;
building stakeholder support together with national policies, strategies and plans.
«We have received a very large number of comments from more than 1,000 experts from all over the world, including academia, the non-governmental sector, as well as from health systems. We had several rounds of public hearings, after which we have a process of consultations with who members, so we are glad that we were able to reach a full consensus on the Astana Declaration on PHC», - said Minister of health of Kazakhstan Elzhan Birtanov.
With these words, he proclaimed the Astana Declaration on PHC adopted and congratulated all the participants of this delegation on this historically important event.
We will remind that today in Astana has started a global conference on primary health care «From Alma-Ata to universal health coverage and sustainable development goals». It will take two days to review the progress made in the field of PHC in the world since the adoption of the Almaty Declaration 40 years ago. The conference was attended by about 2 thousand people, including 1142 foreign delegates from 146 countries and organizations, including who and UNICEF. Among them are 35 Ministers of health and Vice-Ministers for the further development of PHC.
