As the triumph of Good over Evil
At the weekend in the capital hotel «Radisson Astana» was celebrated the holiday Diwali. Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan Prabhat Kumar also took part in it.
It has become a good tradition to unite different cultures in the capital of Kazakhstan, celebrating bright and interesting events. One of them was Diwali – festival of lights. The atmosphere was set by Indian motifs, bright costumes and jewelry. The highlight was the foreign guests in bright sarees and elegant national shirts.
The history of Diwali is rich in legends. The main theme of legends symbolizes the victory of Good over Evil. Diwali also marks the end of the rainy season and the beginning of winter. The celebration continued with traditional Indian dances, songs and national games.
Traditionally, the holiday began with the lighting of candles and incense.
«Diwali is a very important holiday for us. For Hindus, darkness is ignorance and light is a metaphor for knowledge. Thanks to the light, the beauty of the world is revealed. And in most religions, light is a symbol of any positive experience», - said Prabhat Kumar.
The evening continued with incendiary Indian dances with singing in Hindi, contests and lotteries. The rich and varied cuisine, surprising combination of tastes and aromas, was not without attention.
