Free sport will be available for all disabled people in Astana
According to the official website of capital akimat, memorandum on this was signed between the capital akimat and the fund for the development of sports "Caspian" in the Paralympic training center of Astana.
The Paralympic training center, which has been operating in the capital this year, will be open from January 1, 2019 not only for Paralympic athletes, but also for all people with disabilities who want to engage in physical education and sports.
The corresponding Memorandum of public-private partnership was signed by the President of the "Fund for the development of sports "Caspian" Kazbek Kapanov and the head of the Metropolitan Department of urban regeneration Gali Iskaliev.
"Today, with the support of the mayor's office of Astana, we can say that this center is fully ready to meet all the disabled people of the city in the framework of the project "Organization of the Paralympic training center and the ice arena" Tarlan" for disabled people", – said the Executive Director of The national Paralympic Committee of Kazakhstan Yerlan Suleimenov.
"For reference, there are about 24 thousand people with disabilities in Astana. About half of them are disabled people of I and II groups, the most severe. And only about 300 athletes with disabilities are engaged in the center "Zhiger". This figure is very small, but now it will grow. Since 2019, all disabled people of the city will be able to engage in more than ten sports under the guidance of experienced and trained coaches", - he added.
According to the conducted research, the organizers of the project expect that sports activities will be in demand among more than half of Astana residents with disabilities. The Paralympic training center can accommodate up to 780 people a day.
Tarlan ice arena is planned to be adapted for disabled people by July next year.
