High-school excellence medals awarded to 357 students in Nur-Sultan
Over 6.5 thousand high-school graduates received their certificates: 357 students were awarded with Altyn Belgi – medals of academic excellence and 384 students finished school with honors, akimat reports via its official site.
The two events have never been combined before. According to Aiman Duyssenova, principal of lyceum school No 60, the new rule is due to the strict quarantine.
“Our today’s cohort is special. We used to rally all students for the event, but the pandemic makes us invite classes separately. Therefore, we have combined the Farewell Bell and certificate award ceremonies,” principal Duyssenova explained.
The ceremony takes place in schoolyards. Open air and distance between students are prerequisites for the event. Each 11th grade comes to the ceremony following a schedule.
“The first graduation event was conducted at 10 a.m., while the last one is to be at 5 p.m. One parent may accompany a student to the award ceremony. Each class has about 25-30 students. The event lasts for 20-30 minutes,” the principal added.
The lyceum says farewell to 153 students including eight holders of Altyn Belgi and two awardees of high-school certificates with honors.
“The ceremony is very exciting. We are becoming adults, assuming more responsibilities,” said Arina Pryadko, a graduate.
After the ceremony, a tree-planting event is scheduled in the School-Leaving Lane.
This year, the Ministry of Education and Science recommends holding graduation ceremonies under the auspices of Birgemiz: TYLEK 2020 (We are together: Graduate 2020).
As mentioned above, 6,515 individuals leave high schools of Nur-Sultan in 2020, of which 6,199 (95 percent) have applied for Unified National Testing.
