Events for the Day of deportation of Germans were held by the society "Revival"
On August 26 the Germans' Society "Vozrozhdenie" held events timed to the memorable date - the Day of deportation of Germans, which is celebrated on August 28.
In the first half of the day, representatives of the German Revival Society and the crew of the director Boris Shvartsman from Germany traveled to the village of Akmol in the Tselinograd district. Guests at the Museum and Memorial Complex "ALZHIR" laid flowers at the "Split Star" monument. For them, an excursion was made to the halls of the museum "Alash", "ALZHIR" and a documentary film "Fierce cold" ALGERIA "is shown.
Also in the House of Friendship of Astana a review and discussion of the film "Closed Topic" by the author and director Boris Shvartsman took place. The film tells about the tragic fate of Soviet Germans who, according to the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 28, 1941, were urgently evicted from the Volga region to remote areas of the Soviet Union, including Kazakhstan. The authors of the film made a noble mission - to talk about the reasons for the relocation, to pass on to the younger generation a historical memory of the tragic events of the 20th century.
This year, the Germans of the post-Soviet space celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Volga region's autonomous region. The German Volga region, in spite of the sad events, still preserved the cultural heritage of the Germans, as described by photo documents and archives of that time.
